2.7 Assessment
Candidates model and facilitate the effective use of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments to measure student learning and technology literacy, including the use of digital assessment tools and resources.
Artifact: Technology Survey and Analysis
Reflection:
The technology survey I constructed using Survey Monkey was an artifact that I made to gather information for my Capstone Project. I feel that this artifact demonstrates mastery of Standard 2.7 because I modeled and facilitated the effective use of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments to measure student learning and technology literacy, including the use of digital assessment tools and resources. The survey was meant to gain truthful information from staff members about how they were using the Smartboard in their classroom instruction and activities.
My Capstone Project is centered on the use of the Smartboard for engaged learning in the classroom. There are some teachers who use the Smartboard as just a display screen or projector rather than getting the students involved in true interactive learning opportunities and my goal is to help teachers feel more comfortable with the Smartboard and gain access to websites and lessons they can use to enhance the learning experience. I wanted to see what I could learn from teachers about how they were using the Smartboard after having several professional development sessions with a technology trainer from Kennesaw State University (Hoke Wilcox). I felt the assessment was honest and provided some information for how I should proceed with the help I would offer during my project.
I like the format of Survey Monkey, but when I made this survey I was not aware yet of Google Docs. I believe that if I had known about Google Docs I would have used that instead. I prefer how the information comes back to you in Google Docs as well as the data charts that are available for free through the program. The teacher feedback and completion of the surveys is how this artifact was assessed.
