Artifact: Professional Development Prezi
Reflection:
The big project in ITEC 7460 was the Professional Needs Assessment and GAPS Review (as detailed in Standard 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3). Our final presentation to show our findings had to include a Prezi in order to attain the maximum number of points given for the presentation grade. I have posted the Prezi I created for that course as my artifact that demonstrates mastery of Standard 6.1 because I demonstrated continual growth in knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies and applied them to improve personal productivity and professional practice.
I am unsure why we had to use a Prezi for this project. It was not directly explained, nor was it taught in the course. This technology was new to me and something that I had to research on my own. I watched the tutorial on the Prezi site, I watched Youtube videos demonstrating this type of presentation, and I talked to a colleague at school who had created a Prezi for a recent project. I was able to create a Prezi for the presentation and awarded the points toward my overall grade.
The thing that I would change about my Prezi is the format I used. My Prezi was very basic and I am not one to make basic presentations. I like for presentations to present my creative personality, and this one does not. Learning how to make this Prezi was frustrating for me because I couldn’t figure out how to make it look the way I wanted it to look. When watching sample Prezis, I found myself feeling like I was on a roller coaster with some of them having too much motion and turns, so I decided to produce one that did not have as much motion. What I learned from the people who presented in my class was that it didn’t have to have all those twirls and turns to be a good Prezi. The impact that resulted was that my presentation was completed, and the information I had gathered was shared. While I did reach my goal of making a Prezi for this course, I think I may need to give this technology another try.
