3.2 Managing Digital Tools and Resources
Candidates effectively manage digital tools and resources within the context of student learning experiences.
Artifact: Voice Thread
Reflection:
The Voice Thread here was created in ITEC 7430 to go along with an ISTE lesson plan (as detailed in Standard 2.2). This artifact demonstrates mastery of Standard 3.2 because I effectively managed digital tools and resources within the context of student learning experiences.
The students completed a writing assignment near the end of the school year where they gave advice to the rising kindergarteners explaining how they could be successful in first grade. The Voice Thread component was part of the publishing of their work. Students were very excited about recording themselves and hearing it back. As students finished their papers, they were called back to the computer to record. Some decided to do a practice run through, some decided to just press record and go, and others chose to re-record once they had listened to their finished product. Students picked up on the program very quickly. I chose to stay close and monitor to make sure that nothing happened to our work in progress making it all vanish, as can sometimes happen when not monitored closely. I feel that another form of classroom and technology management could have been for me to train the first student and then let that student train the next and so on.
The Voice Thread was assessed by myself and the students when hearing back their parts and then the finished product. The link to our class-made Voice Thread was shared with the kindergarten teachers for them to share with their students. We got a lot of positive feedback from those teachers about how much their students liked hearing all the good advice.
